
Calling all student artists: The GFWC KY Barbourville Junior Woman’s Study Club will be hosting the 2025 Knox County Art Show at the First United Methodist Church during March.
Each school has a designated coordinator that will accept entries that will bring them for judging. The list, by school, is at the end of this release.
- Each entry must have the following information attached to the FRONT RIGHT HAND CORNER on a 2” X 2” paper (form attached): Artist, Grade, Teacher and School for students from preschool thru eighth. Ninth thru twelfth grades will include a category listing. School coordinators may provide the form.
- All entries must have a STATEMENT OF AUTHENTICITY on the back of the entry. School coordinators may provide the form. All work must be independently student done!
- The artist must remember you may NOT use any copyrighted materials such as cartoon characters, logos, etc.
- Entries should be no larger than 18” X 24” including matting or mounting. NO entries will be accepted in a frame.
- No entry will be accepted if it is not properly matted/mounted and unless it has all the necessary information.
Matting may be done by first attaching the pictures to a sturdy poster board (no construction paper) and laying a cut out poster board frame over the picture and securing it.
OR
Mounting may be done by gluing the picture on a piece of sturdy poster board.
- All pictures will be attached to our display boards. DO NOT submit pictures that are too thick/heavy to be attached, they will not be accepted.
- Elementary (PS-5) schools: Each school may submit three (3) entries per grade level.
Middle schools (6-8) may submit eight (8) entries per grade level.
High Schools: Students may enter one (1) entry in each category, a maximum of 4 per student:
- Drawing-pencil, ink or charcoal
- Painting-Oil, Watercolors or Acrylic
- Mixed Media-Combination of drawing and painting, and computer generated
- Photography-Must be taken by students
Any students wishing to submit their artwork should talk to the school coordinator now to see the deadline. Schools may have varying deadlines.
The presentation of awards will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Monday March 24th, at 6:00 p.m. A reception will be held after the presentation of awards hosted by the GFWC KY Barbourville Woman’s Study Club.
The art show is sponsored by GFWC KY Barbourville Junior Woman’s Club, GFWC KY Barbourville Woman’s Club, Knox County Family Resource Youth Service Centers, and First United Methodist Church.
