Dear Girdler Elementary Families,
The Knox County Board of Education is proactively addressing safety concerns in our district. One of which involves students at Girdler crossing the roadway from the school to Brother’s Market during afternoon dismissal.
This situation poses a significant risk, and we are addressing it immediately as part of our school safety efforts.
Effective March 5, 2026, students will not be permitted to cross the road to Brother’s Market unless the school has received a written parent/guardian note/release that has been verified and approved by school administration. Notes must be submitted in advance and confirmed by the school office.
In addition, the approved note must be presented each day to the staff member stationed at the end of the sidewalk. Students without a verified note will not be permitted to cross. This includes elementary, middle, and high school students.
We strongly encourage parents/guardians to speak with their children about following all school safety procedures. We appreciate your cooperation and partnership as we work together to ensure the safety and well-being of every student.
If you have questions or need a copy of the release form, please contact the school office directly.
