5,255 opportunities to smile after Hot Wheels drive for Shriners Lexington

Shriners Hot Wheel donation drive collects 5,255 cars.

5,255

That is the number of Hot Wheels that Knox County students, staff, and community members donated during the third annual collection drive.  The donation drive is in partnership with the Corbin Shrine Club.

“Each year, our schools do a community outreach with Shriners to collect Hot Wheels,” said Superintendent Jeremy Ledford.  “Our schools collected 5,255 Hot Wheels.  That’s 5,255 kids who are battling an issue that will now have a smile on their faces.”

Hot Wheel multipack boxes, plastic bags, and large boxes piled inside a U-Haul trailer that was provided by Corbin Storage.  Shrine members Jimmy Hendrickson, Carl Bledsoe, and Jeremy Gibson joined the superintendent in collecting from each school that will be transported to the Shriner Hospital in Lexington.  Shriner Clint Mays, principal at Girdler Elementary, also proudly loaded those collected by his school.
