Play and Learn groups help children prepare for school

Save the Children, in partnership with the Knox County Public Schools, are offering parents of rising students an opportunity to play and learn before starting school.

The first Play and Learn Group was a big hit on Wednesday, January  24 at the Knox Co. Public Library. Play and Learn Groups will continue to grow through out Knox County. Girdler’s program will be held on Tuesdays at Girdler Elementary Tiger Den from 11:30-12:30. Dewitt’s Program will start on Thursday, February 8th from 10-11 in CRBH Room.

Once started, Play and Groups will be a weekly event at all three locations.  All of Knox County is invited to participate at one of the three locations.  Play and Learn Groups will focus on fun and creative ways that parents can turn everyday moments like chores, or time spent in the car into brain building moments that will help prepare their child for Kindergarten.
