Knox County Public Schools is pleased to announce that Sarah Provost has been named the new principal of Lynn Camp Elementary School.
Provost brings more than 20 years of education experience to the role, from middle school classroom teacher to, most recently, the school’s curriculum coach. Through those roles, she has developed a strong understanding of classroom instruction and a deep appreciation for the students, families, teachers, and staff who make up the Lynn Camp community.
“I applied for the position of principal because it is a wonderful opportunity to continue building relationships with our students, families, and community while supporting student success,” Provost said. “I have seen firsthand the dedication of our teachers and staff and the positive impact of collaboration, high expectations, and our shared vision of ‘Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts.’”
As curriculum coach, Provost has worked closely with teachers and staff to strengthen instruction, analyze student data, coordinate professional learning, and support academic growth throughout the school. She believes that experience has prepared her to lead Lynn Camp Elementary with a strong focus on teaching and learning.
However, Provost said effective school leadership extends beyond academics.
“I believe an effective principal must build meaningful relationships, listen to others, celebrate successes, and create an environment where students and staff feel valued and supported,” she said. “As principal, I will be approachable and put students first in every decision.”
Provost’s classroom experience will also influence the way she supports Lynn Camp’s faculty and staff.
“Having spent many years in the classroom, I understand the responsibilities, challenges, and rewards that teachers experience every day,” she said. “I believe effective leadership begins with supporting the people who work directly with students each day.”
Strengthening partnerships with families will be another priority for Provost. She plans to create meaningful opportunities for families to attend school events, participate in activities, volunteer, and remain connected to their children’s learning.
“Students are most successful when schools and families work together,” Provost said. “I believe Lynn Camp Elementary is strongest when our school and families work together, and I want every family to feel welcomed, valued, and an important part of our school community.”
Provost is also eager to celebrate the achievements of Lynn Camp Elementary’s students and staff.
“I cannot wait to showcase the amazing things our students are learning, creating, and accomplishing,” she said. “I look forward to building upon the progress our school has made and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve and succeed.”
Originally from Massachusetts, Provost came to Kentucky after graduating from college to volunteer at the Lend-A-Hand Center in the Stinking Creek community of Knox County. She quickly fell in love with the area and its people. A teaching experience during a day camp at the center inspired her to return to school and earn her degree, marking the beginning of her career as an educator. Provost has one son, who served in the United States Army for five years and recently returned to Knox County.
