The gymnasium at Dewitt Elementary was full of loud cheers and applause Friday morning during a special assembly to reward the students and staff for their performance on last spring’s assessment.

Members of the Dewitt dance team performed as students eagerly awaited the surprise appearance of Superintendent Walter T. Hulett and Assistant Superintendent Marion Sowders.

Hulett shared with students that test scores had recently been released and that “Dewitt Rocks”.    The school met all of their NCLB goals for the second consecutive year.

“We wanted to bring you a banner to hang up”, stated Hulett, noting that this banner was unlike those in past years.

Hulett was joined by Sowders in revealing a check in the amount of $3,000.

“You rock, Mr. Hulett” was overheard in the crowd of students as the check was unrolled.

Two other check presentations were held on Thursday at Girdler Elementary and Lay Elementary.
