Students recognized at February Board Meeting

Several students were in the spotlight at the February 22, 2011 meeting of the Knox County Board of Education.

Lynn Camp Elementary preschool students led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Board meeting.  Their teachers are Mrs. Annette Goodin and Mrs. Danielle Armstrong.   Students in attendance were:  (Mrs. Goodin’s class) Jorja Carnes, Eithan Siler, Eithan Duff, Abby Holin, Chloe Helton, Summer Haney, Nicholas Redmond and Emilee Sizemore.  (Mrs. Armstrong’s class) Evan Taylor, Steven Smith, Ariana Pennington, Callie Beth Bays, Abby Helton, and Mason Moore. 

Olivia Dozier, a 1st grade student at Lynn Camp Elementary, was the Spotlight Reader at the February Board meeting.  Olivia was accompanied by her teachers, Nicki Hammons and Kathy Justice.   She read from the book “Mary Had a Little Jam and Other Silly Rhymes.”

 
 

Brooke Green, a senior at Lynn Camp High School, was honored for her achievements and leadership as president of the Lynn Camp BETA Club.   Brooke recently received the John W. Harris Leadership Award from the National BETA Club for her active involvement in the local chapter.   She was nominated by her adviser Donna Davis for the award.  (Read more about Brooke…).    Brooke was presented with an extracurricular involvement award by Board member Clarence Brown.

  
Alicia McDaries, an 11th grade student at Knox Central High School, was recognized as the Math Master student of the month.   Alicia is in Keith Broughton’s Algebra II class at Knox Central.  Alicia was introduced by Pamela Williams, district federal programs coordinator.
