Knox Central Freshman Girls win regional tournament

The Knox Central freshman girls’ basketball team recently brought home the 13th region tournament championship after winning against Harlan and Bell County in the final games of the tourney.   The championship game was held on February 5.

“Winning the freshman regional tournament is an honor and we hope to continue to build from this”, said Darren Mills, head girls basketball coach at Knox Central.

The girls had a record of 22-0 for the 2010-2011 basketball season.  Area teams playing in the regional tournament included Harlan, Clay, and Bell counties, North Laurel, Corbin, and Knox Central.

Freshman basketball players include Katelyn Combs, Tyra McNeil, Megan Carnes, Amber Mills, Kristen Combs and Jessica Sanders.

“I am very proud of these young ladies”, said Mills. “They had a wonderful year, worked hard, and represented our school very well.”
