Future Business Leaders advancing to Nationals

Three of Knox Central’s top business students are advancing to national competition after winning awards at the Future Business Leaders of America’s state conference.

Kelsey Engle, Brandi Mills, and Chris Gibson placed in the top five of their events at the State FBLA conference held April 14-16 in Louisville.

Brandi Mills, a freshman at Knox Central, placed second in the Desktop Publishing event held at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Louisville, April 14-16.  Mills demonstrated her knowledge of creating, designing, and producing documents using desktop publishing software; requiring her to have understanding and mastery of basic desktop terminology and concepts.

Chris Gibson, a junior, placed third in the Computer Applications event.  Gibson was required to complete business scenarios utilizing word processing software, spreadsheet applications, databases, and presentation software.

Kelsey Engle, a junior, placed fourth in the Word Processing event.  The event required Engle to prepare documents while following FBLA guidelines to successfully demonstrate page layout using reusable content, format content, insert illustrations and graphics, check grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading, insert references and hyperlinks, utilize mail merge options, and related application knowledge.

All three students now advance to the National Leadership Conference of Future Business Leaders of America to be held in Nashville, Tennessee this summer.
