Lynn Camp High School is proud to announce the hiring of Allen Mitchell as the next head coach of the Wildcat football program. As a Lynn Camp graduate with deep family roots in the community, he understands what LC football and all athletic programs means to the community. He returns to lead the Wildcats with passion, experience, and a clear vision for the future.
“Lynn Camp is a special place to me,” Mitchell said. “I’m an LC graduate, and I have more than 30 immediate family members who have graduated from here. I’ve played here, coached here for over 20 years, and I know what can be achieved. I’m super excited to get started.”
With those 20 years and others combined, Mitchell brings 28 seasons of high school coaching experience, most of them at Lynn Camp High School. Having both played and coached at Lynn Camp, Mitchell understands the expectations of a Wildcat. “Head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and position coach for every spot on the field,” Mitchell recalls them all.
“I have vast experience in what it takes to win at all levels and I specifically to win at LYNN CAMP HIGH SCHOOL.”
His list of accomplishments includes multiple district and regional championships, as well as an appearance in the Class 3A State Championship game. He was also part of Lynn Camp’s memorable 2003 Regional Championship team.
“Our community knows what Lynn Camp football should look like,” Mitchell said. “We will put a product on the field that excites our alumni and fans and welcomes new people into the Lynn Camp family. Our student-athletes will not be outworked, and they will play with passion and energy that will keep our fans on their feet cheering for the Wildcats.”
A key part of Mitchell’s long-term vision is strengthening Lynn Camp football from the ground up. Plans are underway to expand youth football opportunities in the community.
“This spring, we plan to start a flag football league with divisions for kindergarten through second grade, third and fourth grade, and fifth and sixth grade,” Mitchell explained. “In the fall, we will offer tackle football for third-fourth and fifth-sixth grades, along with a K-2 flag league.
“Building our program starts with our youth, and we want them wearing Lynn Camp colors early.”
As a Wildcat, Mitchell is also focused on reconnecting alumni and building strong community support. In the coming weeks, he plans to host a meet-and-greet during a home basketball game, giving fans and former players an opportunity to hear his vision and connect directly with the program.
“I want our community to see my passion and understand how, together, we can build a program that represents Lynn Camp with pride, sportsmanship, and championship-level competitiveness,” he said.
For current and incoming players, Mitchell’s expectations are clear.
“I know what can be done here because I’ve lived it,” Mitchell said. “Our players will be students first. I expect them to be the kind of young men who inspire others and serve as leaders in our school and community.”
Off the field, Mitchell has a support system cheering him on at home.
Robin, his wife, who he says will be actively involved in the Lynn Camp football family. They have three children: Ross, a Lynn Camp graduate and commercial electrician; Allie, an EKU graduate who will complete her master’s degree in ABA therapy at Ball State this spring; and Jimmy, who is currently attending technical school working toward his electrician degree.
With deep roots, proven success, and a commitment to tradition and growth, Coach Allen Mitchell steps into the role ready to lead Lynn Camp football into its next chapter. “Go Wildcats!”
