Superintendent’s Welcome Back Message

web_suptbacktoschoolDear Knox County Public Schools’ family,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!

On Thursday as I visited our schools, classrooms were full of smiles and learning from the moment the day started.  I cannot thank our staff enough for such a smooth start to the school year and our families for their patience as we implemented new drop off, check in, and other procedures throughout the district to start off the school year.

I am excited about what this school year has in store for the students of Knox County.  As a district, we have six main areas of focus that we will be developing systems and plans for to ensure a system of excellence.  Those six areas are curriculum, instruction, assessment, evaluation and supervision, policies, and governance.  Those six areas are not new, nor are we starting from scratch. Rather, we are taking the work that has already been done and ensuring that it aligns with our vision of college and career readiness for all students.

This year I would like to encourage each member of our community to become an active and contributing member of our school family.  Throughout the year you will be learning of opportunities to give feedback, and to give back, to our schools.  Each of us, regardless of our role, is responsible for inspiring leaders and changing futures, one child at a time.

I hope you and your family have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Kelly Sprinkles, Superintendent
