Microfinance

How financial services can help someone living in poverty and save for long term goals like their kids’ education and emergencies?

For the Indigenous people it’s impossible to get a loan or open a savings account in the bank with only 1$ a day income. There isn’t any bank near Pena Blanca and it’s also nearly impossible, without speaking Spanish, to deal with the bank people and get a loan.

But there is a hope for villagers. Grameen Guatemala Microfinance is helping with loans and saving accounts to bring themselves and their families out of poverty. They are especially supporting women, meeting with them at the Pena Blanca and helping with loans and saving accounts. Lots of them, thanks to that, has opened small business and manage to save some money for the long term goals.
