    The news has been full of headlines about the budget, possible action by the Attorney General on the Governor’s budget for post-secondary cuts, bills being considered dead now due to time running out, and other happenings in Frankfort.   To keep you up to date, I have attached a list of enacted bills.  At this point it is wait and see on the next steps from the Capitol.
  • Leadership and STEAM in action at Lay this week
    Leadership and STEAM are in action this week as the students and staff at Lay Elementary welcome parents and guests to their school to showcase Leader in Me and how they are embedding 21st century skills into the curriculum.  Leader in Me concepts anApril enacted billsd skills are being implemented at Lay and Dewitt Elementary so far in the district with our goal of adding more schools in the future.  With Lay’s Leadership Day being held during the school day, I encourage you to invite any interested community members that can make time to attend to please do so.  Leadership Day invite 16
  • Diagnostic Review occurring this week
    Last night our district leadership team had the opportunity to showcase the work happening in Knox County during a presentation to the Diagnostic Review team.   They will be visiting our district through Wednesday to look at the progress KCPS has made during the past two years.  On Monday they will be conducting interviews with staff, Board, and community members at Central Office.  On Tuesday they will be conducting walk throughs at Knox Central.  We appreciate Knox Central for opening up their doors and welcoming our guests.
  • Spring testing dates
    Spring K-PREP / end of school testing will occur beginning Monday, May 9 and go through May 13.  Makeup days will be scheduled May 16-23.
  • Spring Break
    Speaking of spring,  happy Spring Break week!  KCPS will be closed Thursday, April 7 through Monday, April 11 for our spring break.  Scheduling spring break from Thursday to Monday, for a full five day window, is new to this year’s calendar. We hope that everyone uses this time to rest and recharge.
