A world-wide company with local connections is investing in Knox County classrooms.
Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores across the nation including our local Wal-Mart stores in Barbourville and Corbin are giving back to the community, particularly by making an investment in students.
Twenty teachers in Knox County were randomly drawn to each receive a $50 reward card to purchase school supplies or nutritious snacks for their classrooms. The reward cards are redeemable at Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs, walmart.com or samsclub.com.
Kathleen Stone, benefits coordinator for Wal-Mart and Sams Club, visited the school district on Monday to distribute the gift cards.
“Teachers spend their own money to educate and feed our children, and Wal-Mart wants to help make a difference,” stated Stone.
“We understand all that teachers do to support their students; and we’re proud to help by making this donation in addition to the scholarships and educational programs that we offer in communities across the country.”
Recipients of the Wal-Mart rewards are Courtney Barnhill, Sherry Bohl, Robbi Cobb, Kimberly Dunn, Tammy Gray, Barbara Gregory, Erin Page Grubb, Dana Jacobs, Kevin Merida, Salleebeth Mills, Kayla Sizemore, Sara Sizemore, Kenny Smallwood, Heidi Suttle, Melissa Swafford, Shanna Tate, Teresa Tuttle, Linda Vanover, Tabitha Wagers and Dorothy Warren.
