Positive Behavior Intervention Supports, also known as PBIS, has now been implemented districtwide. Schools have selected team members and trainings are underway for full implementation. Each school’s PBIS team are finishing up trainings that will help the team members take the concepts back to their school and share with teachers, staff, and students. Schoolwide expectations are being established by each school’s PBIS team. These expectations will be taught and modeled by school teachers and staff to demonstrate positive behaviors that will be expected from all students. There will be incentives for students that meet these expectations at the discretion of each school. The goal is to foster a positive school environment which would in turn reduce the number of office referrals and give teachers more resources to manage behaviors.
