Parents get ready for kindergarten

The first day of kindergarten is often difficult for parents and guardians as their child starts the first day of school.   Lynn Camp and the Children’s Reading Foundation of Appalachia-KY are working to make that future first day easier for both parents and students.

On Thursday, December 3, Lynn Camp Schools hosted their first Ready! For Kindergarten session.  Debbie Knuckles with The Children’s Reading Foundation led a total of seventeen families through the session.

The session was available for children who are 3, 4 or 5 and had not started kindergarten. The session provided free educational materials to work with a child in preparation for kindergarten.

The sessions are designed to show what a difference playing with a purpose can make for every child by building their self-esteem and confidence before they enter school. The program also promotes higher reading levels before students enter first-grade while also educating parents about the latest goals a child should attempt to reach as they learn throughout the ages of 3, 4 and early 5.
