On December 13, 2016, the Board welcomed students from G.R. Hampton Elementary School to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Board recognized and congratulated the following individuals:
Mr. Tim Melton, former principal at Knox Central High School and current principal at Williamsburg Independent Schools. Mr. Melton was recognized for his leadership during the school turnaround process at Knox Central. Mr. Melton served the school in many roles including teacher, coach, curriculum coach, and principal during his tenure there. The school earned distinguished ratings on the state accountability system during Mr. Melton’s last year of leadership there. | Mr. Merrill Smith, school board member representing district five (5) and the Lynn Camp/Gray area of Knox County, was recognized for his four (4) years of service to the Board. Mr. Smith did not run for re-election during the November meeting. He held the roles of member, vice chairman, and chairman of the Board during his four years of service. In addition, Mr. Smith served on various committees including oversight of budget/finances. |
