Excellence on the track and in the classroom

Members of the Knox Central High School Track team were recognized at the August 23 Board meeting for their success during the spring 2016 season.

Four members of the team received awards from the Kentucky Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association as members of the Academic All-State team.  In addition to demonstrating great talent as an athlete, Amber Brown, Ashley Visoso, Issac Brooks, and Larry Zak Willis also demonstrated great knowledge in the classroom last spring.

Honorable Mention All-State was presented to Mitchell Trent and All-State 2nd Team was presented to Dante Brown.  Janelle Reed received the honors of All-State 1st Team during 2016 having been a state runner-up in the 300 hurdles and having set a new school record of 47.35.

The 2016 Knox Central track team was honored by the Knox County Board during the August 23 meeting.The awards were presented by coach Gerald Wilder, who was joined by Board members Dr. Tom Asburn and Charles Merida.
