Back to School Week proclaimed in Knox

The countdown is on until the first day of the 2016-2017 academic year for Knox County students.

During Tuesday night’s meeting of the Knox County Board of Education, audience members were reminded of the first day of school and their role in ensuring student success throughout the school year.

Superintendent Kelly Sprinkles read aloud a proclamation, declaring the week of August 8th to August 12th as “Back to School Week” in Knox County.  The first day for students is August 11th, opening day for staff is August 10th.

“The proclamation calls attention to everyone’s role in providing a quality education to our students throughout the school year,” Sprinkles explained.  “The same excitement and focus on academics that we have the first day should occur every day for our students.”

The proclamation charges all teachers, parents, families, and community members with the responsibility of “Inspiring Leaders and Changing Futures,” which is the school district’s mission.
