Knox County’s chapter of HOSA, a student career and technical organization for those interested in the healthcare profession, is celebrating wins and achievements following their attendance at the organization’s state conference.
Lily Wagers and Felicity Landrum placed 3rd in Health Career Display (HCD) at the state conference. HCD competitors develop a visual display of a special career. The chosen career was travel nurse. This display allows students to express their ideas through an artistic medium to highlight the benefits of the selected career. Students were also judged on their ability to present themselves and communicate the information to each other. Wagers and Landrum now advance to international competition.
Knox HOSA’s Vice President Patrick Ledington volunteered 38 hours in the past 8 performing activities in partnership with MRC. Patrick was chosen as the MRC volunteer of the year by the local MRC. “Patrick is very passionate about HOSA and gives 110%,” said Lorri Smith, advisor for student members. “Thank you for your dedication to the community and to healthcare Patrick.”
Knox HOSA’s President Malloree Walker was recognized at state conference during the Presidential Walk. Walkerhas been a dedicated HOSA member all four years competing at the regional and state level. “Thank you Malloree for your dedication to the medical profession,” said Smith.
