Leaders at Knox Central are looking to equip parents with the knowledge and resources that they need to ensure that their child is successful in school and life.

Parent Leadership Basecamp will be held on Saturday, August 18, from 9:30am until 3:30pm and is open to all parents and families of 9th through 12th grade students.  Community members interested in being more engaged in Knox Central and their local school are also invited to attend.
Basecamp is a first step for those who want to take an active role in public education, both at Knox Central and in the community, not only for their children but the whole school community.  This one day training will introduce participants to state and local goals for parent engagement and to the importance of community engagement for student and school success.

Those in attendance will learn what parent engagement means, receive tools to help them understand Kentucky’s education system, learn the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Schools, and how to build relationships inside the school that will support academic achievement for all students.

There is no cost to attend and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Basecamp is a joint effort between the Knox County Public Schools, Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership, and Berea College Partners for Education.
