Cadets in the Knox Central Panther Battalion JROTC program experienced an unique summer trip to the beach that combined history and life skills.
CSM Keith Hembree explained that the trip was focused on careers, giving the students an opportunity to experience military life. Cadets visited Virginia Beach/Oceana Naval Air Station and Washington D.C.
“While at Virginia Beach, Cadets stayed in military barracks at a National Guard base,” said Hembree about the trip.
The trip was conducted from June 11-17, 2017, and was conducted in conjunction with Harlan County’s JROTC program. Knox Instructors LTC Richard Shackleford, his wife Sandy, and CSM Keith Hembree accompanied the Knox Cadets. Also chaperoning the trip were graduates Summer Berry and Tiffany Broughton.
