Three Knox County teachers received a surprise knock on their classroom door this week from Superintendent Jeremy Ledford. In hand was a covered certificate announcing that they were selected as one of Campbellsville University’s Excellence in Teaching recipients for 2024.
Lauren Petrey (Lynn Camp Elementary), Tabitha Frederick (Knox County Middle), and Chelsea Philpot (Lynn Camp Middle High) will be honored on the University’s campus on Saturday, May 11. Before the official awards, the Knox County Board of Education will recognize the three during their March 28 meeting.
Campbellsville University began the Excellence in Teaching Award Program in 1987. The program recognizes the quality teaching and learning in school systems throughout Kentucky.
Through the awards program, Campbellsville University presents certificates to teachers in each grade level (preschool/elementary, middle grades, and high school) as selected by their school districts. Over 3,000 teachers have been honored since the program’s inception.
