Six Knox County Public Schools teachers are representing our Knox County through a HERO (History Education and Research Grant) through a partnership KEDC, an education cooperative. This journey has brought new friendships, powerful tools, and professional development opportunities to help the teachers grow.
“And now we’ve taken on New York City!,” said Amanda Vaughn, one of the teachers participating. From Ellis Island to the Statue of Liberty, the teachers are bringing back inspiration, knowledge, and fresh ideas for ther students and classrooms.
“This has been an incredible opportunity to explore and learn more about our nation’s rich history,” said Vaughn.
“This experience allowed us to engage with history firsthand—bringing it to life in a way that will deeply enrich our classrooms. This grant was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we are incredibly grateful. We look forward to sharing our photos and stories with our students, inspiring them to believe that one day, they too can embark on similar journeys of discovery.”
