Parents and guardians of students who may be eligible for attending preschool or Headstart in the upcoming school year are encouraged to participate in upcoming screenings this March.
Screenings will be held on:
- March 22 at Dewitt Elementary and Jesse D. Lay Elementary
- March 29 at G.R. Hampton and Lynn Camp Elementary
Screenings will be by appointment only and may be conducted at any site on the two days. Screenings will be for all preschool sites and all KCEOC sites, regardless of where your child lives or will attend.

The following is a checklist of items needed before your child’s application is complete. If you are applying, please begin to gather copies of the following items.
- Preschool Application—You can find an application on our website (below), get a copy at Knox Board of Education, 200 Daniel Boone Dr, Barbourville, or at KCEOC Headstart.
- Proof of Gross Income (W2, check stubs, tax return, benefits letter, or written verification)
- Birth Certificate
- Current Immunization Certificate
- Physical
- Dental Screening
- Eye Exam (Kentucky Eye Exam Form)
- Social Security Card (optional)
- Hearing Screening
Preschool and Head Start enrollments are for children who meet established eligibility requirements.
