Students have been counted and the totals are in.

Knox County Public Schools is announcing the top schools for attendance during the statewide High Attendance Day, held Wednesday, September 13.

Flat Lick Elementary had the district’s best attendance, with 98.21% of students present.  At the middle school level, 93.69% of students at Lynn Camp Middle School were present.  At the high school level, Knox Central was the champion with 90.34% attendance.

“We congratulate these schools for emphasizing to their students the importance of daily attendance,” said Gina Sears, Director of Pupil Personnel for the school district.

“We know illnesses occur and absences will happen, but we also know that students who are at school, and on time, each day have a higher success rate than those who aren’t.”

Organized by the Kentucky Directors of Pupil Personnel through the Kentucky Department of Education, High Attendance Day promotes and aims to boost attendance in Kentucky schools.  Elementary, middle, and high schools across the state will be competing to determine who has the highest attendance percentage at each level and based on school size.
