03/15/2023 3:00PM – Additional law enforcement was present at Girdler Elementary this morning following a threat found Tuesday. In conjunction with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, our school resource officers (SROs) worked with school leadership to investigate the threat. It has been determined that there is no threat to student and staff safety.
The Knox County Public Schools takes all threats seriously and works closely with our SROs and law enforcement in the investigations. Please take this opportunity to talk with your child(ren) regarding the seriousness of making threats. Individuals cannot say, write, text, or post (not even as a joke) a threat of any type, as these threats will be taken seriously and law enforcement will be contacted.
03/14/2023 8:58PM – This evening our school administration was made aware of a handwritten threat inside a restroom stall at Girdler Elementary. Law enforcement is currently actively investigating the threat. There will be additional police presence at the school on Wednesday as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
