Knox County students and staff now know when school will start this fall. The Knox County Board of Education approved the 2023-2024 academic calendar during their meeting on February 16.
The first day for students will be on Wednesday, August 16. That is one week later than school has started in prior years. The decision was made following a public survey that was conducted earlier this month.
Other noteworthy dates include:
- October 2-6, 2023 fall break
- November 22-24 Thanksgiving break
- December 20 – January 2, 2024 winter and Christmas break
- April 1-5 tentative spring break
- May 23 tentative last day for students
A complete calendar with teacher work days and other days that schools will be closed for students and/or staff will be published later this spring.
