The Knox County Board of Education approved the master academic calendar for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year during their meeting on Thursday, February 22.
Two options were presented to staff and families for feedback. One option included an earlier start date, a full week off for fall, Thanksgiving, and spring breaks. Option two included a later start date with partial week breaks.
87% of staff and 78% of families responded to the online survey, selecting option one as the preferred calendar. That option was approved unanimously by the Board.
The approved calendar follows:
August 7 – First Day of School for Students
September 2 – Labor Day – No School
October 7-11 – Fall Break (Full week)
November 4-5 – Election Day and Off Day (No school / Mon-Tue)
November 25-29 – Thanksgiving Break (No school / full week)
December 23 – January 3, 2025 – Winter Break and Christmas
March 31 – April 4 – Spring Break
May 19 – Tentative Last Day of School for Students (pending any cancellations that must be made up)
