Parents of exceptional children invited to take survey

Parents of exceptional children in the the Knox County Public Schools (those with an individual education plan / IEP) are invited to complete a survey to share their experience with special education services provided by the district’s schools.

The brief online survey, accessible online at www.kypso.org, is to share information on special education services for the 2016-2017 school year.

Parents may also visit their child’s school to complete the survey, however no paper copies are available.

Only one parent per student should complete the survey.  However, parents of more than one child with an IEP should complete a survey for each of their children.

All responses are anonymous and cannot be traced back to parents nor their child.  Results will be analyzed by the Human Development Institute (HDI) at the University of Kentucky (UK) and used for a report to the U.S. Department of Education.  The school district will also be reviewing the final report to make decisions on what can be done to involve parents in their child’s education.

The deadline for completing the survey is May 31, 2017.

With questions about the survey please contact Robin Parrott, Special Education secretary, at 606-546-3157, ext. 2419.
