Two students named “Spotlight Readers” for April 2011

Two students were selected to be the “Spotlight Readers” for the month of April during the April 26th meeting of the Knox County Board of Education.

Jenna Davis, a third grade student at Central Elementary School, was introduced by her teacher Helena Ledington.  Davis read a poem titled “A Teacher for All Seasons” by Joanna Fuchs.   She was presented a certificate of appreciation by Board member Carla Jordan.

Austin Bickle, an eighth grade student at Lynn Camp Middle/High School, was the second Spotlight Reader for April 2011.  Bickle was introduced by his teacher Elvenia Boggs.  He is the first middle grades student to be named a Spotlight Reader.  Bickle read from “Out of the Dust”, a book recently read in the SFA reading classes at Lynn Camp.   Board member Clarence Brown presented Bickle with a certificate of appreciation.
