Regional Elementary Governor’s Cup held at Central Elementary

Elementary students from across the region competed for medals and trophies at Central Elementary School on Saturday, March 17,  in the Region 27 Governor’s Cup competition.

Winners from the Knox County Public Schools include:

2nd Place, Mathematics – Denny Lin, Central Elementary
2nd Place, Composition – Hannah Daniels, G.R. Hampton Elementary
3rd Place, Language Arts – Mitchell Buchanan, Jesse D. Lay Elementary
3rd Place, Arts and Humanities – Hannah Daniels, G.R. Hampton Elementary
4th Place, Science – Isaac Schneider, Central Elementary
5th Place, Science – Brennan Warfield, Lynn Camp Elementary
5th Place, Social Studies – Leanna Osborne, G.R. Hampton Elementary

Elementary Governor’s Cup consists of five written examinations in mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, and arts and humanities.   There are also events in composition, quick recall, and future problem solving.

Schools representing Region 27 include Barbourville Elementary School, Boston Elementary, Central Elementary School, Corbin Intermediate, Dewitt Elementary School, Flat Lick Elementary School, G.R. Hampton Elementary School, Girdler Elementary School, Jesse D. Lay Elementary School, Lynn Camp Elementary School, Oak Grove Elementary, Pine Knot Intermediate School, Pleasant View Elementary, St. Camillus Academy (EL), Whitley Central Intermediate School, Whitley City Elementary School (EL), Whitley Co. North Elementary School, Whitley East Elementary, and Williamsburg Elementary School.
