PartnerCorps seeks community help with service project

The PartnerCorps members at Knox Central High School invite members of the community to participate in a Service Project at the Knox Whitley Animal Shelter on January 20, 2014.

The PartnerCorps members, who work with students at Knox Central to improve attendance, behavior, and college/career readiness, will be involving the high school students that are in need of community service hours. The animal shelter was selected as the project after it was destroyed by fire on November 29. The temporarily location is at 3915 5th Street Rd. in Corbin, KY.

Otis, a rescued dog who’s owner is Kathy Gray, one of the PartnerCorps members at Knox Central High School. Gray, in conjunction with other PartnerCorps members and Knox Central students are conducting a service project to benefit the Knox Whitley Animal Shelter.

Working with the shelter, which is a non-profit organization, it was decided that their greatest need from Knox Central and the community is supplies. The PartnerCorps Members are in the process of collecting items to be donated to the shelter. Items will be accepted at Knox Central through January 20 from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM daily. PartnerCorps members, in conjunction with the students, are recommending that the following items be donated:

• Collars/Leases

• Plastic Cat Basket/Beds

• Large Stainless Steel Bowls

• Rawhides/Treats

• Brushes for Grooming

• Flea/Tick Medicine

• Dog Nail Clippers
