The “Mirror Mirror” scholarship program from Lindsey Wilson College hosted its third annual regional event at Lynn Camp High School on Monday November 1st. At the event, 16 seniors from 16 different schools earned a free, full-ride scholarship to Lindsey Wilson College. Samantha Patterson, a senior from Lynn Camp, was one of the 16 winners.

In order to win the scholarships, each student had to write an essay about an event that changed their lives. There were many more participants to begin with, but they were eventually narrowed down to 16. Each school then chose 10 finalists, who were taken on a free tour of the Lindsey Wilson campus in Columbia, Kentucky.

Along with the scholarship giveaways, there was also a drawing for a free 2011 Chevy Cobalt LS. Zachary Taylor, a senior at Harlan, was the winner of the car. When asked how he felt, he simply replied “Ecstatic!”

The event is considered truly a blessing for the scholarship recipients.  It has helped several students to have a better chance at life after high school who could otherwise not afford college. All possible college expenses are paid for by the scholarships. The financial aid includes tuition, book fees, meal plans, housing, etc.
