Lexington Children’s Theatre honors KCMS playwrights

The Lexington Children’s Theatre honored KCMS Drama students with Certificates of Participation for the 2013 Young Playwrights for Change Competition.

After writing their 10- minute plays in Ms. Mayla McKeehan’s drama class, the following students were selected to enter the competition: Tyler Cox, Felicity Faulkner, Kimberly Hubbs, Kaelyn Hobbs, Mariam Chavies, Taylor Daniels, and Kobey Moore.

Young Playwrights for Change is a part of the Dramatic Change Project, a collaboration of Theatre for Young Audiences/USA and the American Alliance for Theatre and Education.  This organization encourages young people to express their opinions and raise awareness about important issues, such as this year’s topic, anti- bullying.

Currently, two of the student plays are being produced by the KCMS Drama Club.  “They’ve Been Hurt Before”, by Felicity Faulkner, and “Big Bad Bruce”, by Tyler Cox, are in rehearsal at KCMS.
