Knox to begin using SubFinder automated substitute placement

The Knox County Public Schools are changing the way that substitutes receive notification of job opportunities in the school district.

Beginning Monday, November 4th, the District will be utilizing the SubFinder automated substitute placement system for teacher absences.  Classroom teachers will call the substitute hotline or log in to the SubFinder website to request a substitute.  Then, SubFinder will begin filling the job by going through the list of substitute teachers.  Substitutes will be called by the automated system, in order, until the job is filled.

The change in how substitutes are called and placed is a result of 15 full time substitutes being hired to serve all schools and due to the new healthcare law.

The District anticipates expanding the system to include substitute instructional assistants, cooks, and custodians in the near future.
