Knox Middle football team honored for outstanding season

After an 8-4 season on the field and earning the region 4 champion and state semi-finalist titles, the Knox County Middle School football team was honored by the Knox County Board of Education on November 23rd.  Head coach Todd Merida spoke about the team during the Board recognition.   “This group of young men, you should be really proud.  They represent your county really well both on the field and in the classroom.  You won’t find a finer group of young men.”

Five members were individually recognized for being selected to play in the Kentucky Middle School Football Association’s East vs. West game in Frankfort during Thanksgiving.  Those players were Hayden Canady, Trent Tuttle, Jotham Hale, Kendall Frost, and Corey Owens.  Hayden Canady was also chosen to participate in the Eastbay Youth All American game.  He will be playing for Team USA against Team Canada.

Players for the KCMS football team include Patrick Dollar, Jared Hall, Alec Merida, Matthew Barger, Tony Brown, Cody Lockard, Jacob Roach, Nick Powers, Frankie Robinson, Max Kubas, Tyler Mills, Jonathon Wells, Jared Black, Brayden Imel, Michael Rose, Nathan Cole, Sammy Watts, Jotham Hale, Patrick Clark, Casey Patterson, Hayden Canady, Kendall Frost, Matthew Smith, Skylar Roach, Hunter McRight, Gary King, Jordan Evans, Blake Hinkle, Corey Owens, Alex Sprinkles, Leslie Smith, Tristan Philpot, Dee Castle, Dakotah Jones, and Trent Tuttle.  Head coach is Todd Merida.  Assistant coaches are Kevin Merida, Daniel Bright, Micah Bingham and Jeff Canady.
