Knox Central teacher and student named “Math Masters” at Board meeting

Knox Central math teacher Leeann Mills and student Lauren Sowders have been named “Math Masters” for the month of November.  The two were recognized during the Math Moment at the November 23rd meeting of the Knox County Board of Education.

Pamela Williams, federal programs coordinator, introduced the two award recipients at the meeting.  Williams stated “we have heard of lots of great things going on in Mrs. Mills’ room.”

“It is an exciting time to be teaching in Knox County”, shared Mills after being introduced. “We have several classroom strategies in place.  We have diversified our teaching instruction so that we can reach all of our students.”

Mills credited daily flash backs and formative assessments among the strategies in place that are having the greatest impact in her classroom.
