KCMS earns top ranking at district Governor’s Cup competition

The Knox County Middle School Academic Team, Quick Recall Team, and Future Problem Solving Team took top honors at the district Governor’s Cup competition held on Saturday, January 22, at Knox County Middle School.   The teams from KCMS were challenged by competitors from Barbourville Independent and Lynn Camp.

Top winners from each event include:
Mathematics – Niven Achenjang, Knox County Middle
Science – Ethan Gregory, Knox County Middle
Social Studies – T.J. Melton, Knox County Middle
Language Arts – Alexis Hammons, Barbourville Ind.
Arts and Humanities – Lauren Pedersen, Barbourville Ind.
Composition – Trevor Mills, Barbourville Ind.
Future Problem Solving – Knox County Middle team
Quick Recall – Knox County Middle team
Hume Sportsmanship Award – Lynn Camp

The final rankings from all events placed Knox County Middle first with 59.5 points.  

The teams now advance to regional Governor’s Cup being held at South Laurel Middle School.  Future Problem Solving and Composition will be on Tuesday, February 1.  Quick Recall and other written assessments will be on Saturday, February 5.
