High schools receive recognition from Knox veterans

The students and administration at Knox Central and Lynn Camp have received special recognition from Knox County’s veterans for honoring all who served.

During the communications agenda at the November 26 Board of Education meeting, retired veteran and Board member SFC Charles Merida presented both schools with a framed certificate of appreciation.   The certificate stated that it was presented on behalf of past, present, and future veterans in Knox County to the high schools for taking time to recognize the service of those that serve our nation.

Merida, among other veterans, attended Veterans Day assemblies held at schools in Knox County on November 11.  According to Merida, and echoed by those in attendance, the presentations that were largely organized by students were a moving tribute to those who have sacrificed and served to protect.

Accepting the recognition certificates from Merida were Knox Central principal Tim Melton and Lynn Camp Schools principal Anthony Pennington.
