Heading to state: KCHS wins at regional FBLA competition

Fourteen students will represent Knox Central High School at the Kentucky Future Business Leaders of America conference after competing at regional conference.

Future Business Leaders of America, a career and technical student organization, allows students in the pathways of business and marketing to demonstrate their knowledge of business principles and procedures through competitive events and networking opportunities.   The students competed against business students from across eastern Kentucky for the chance to advance to state during Region 6 competition held at Eastern Kentucky University on Friday, March 13.

Winners from Knox Central include:

Banking and Financial Systems:  1st Place – Alexis Carnes, Ana Owens and Chris Gibson

Business Law:  3rd Place – Hannah Mills

Client Service:  1st Place – Sarah Miles

Computer Applications:  2nd Place – Kelsey Engle

Cyber Security:  2nd Place –  Brandi Mills 

Desktop Publishing:  1st Place – Brandi Mills and Ashley Kozlow

Future Business Leader:  1st Place – Kelsey Engle

Global Business:  3rd Place – Ashley Kozlow, Kaitlyn Gray, and Peyton Barnhill

Sports and Entertainment Management:  3rd Place – Bobby Keith, Brian Gibbs, and Dalton Sizemore

Spreadsheet Applications:  1st Place – Amanda Wahlstedt

Word Processing:  1st Place – Chris Gibson

The students are now preparing for the State Leadership Conference that will be held April 20-23 at the Galt House in Louisville.   Students who place in their competitive events at State will have an opportunity to advance to the National conference to be held June 29–July 2 in Chicago, Illinois.
