If Knox Central students had a business plan for advancing their way to national competition, the plan would be one worth investing in.
Nine students were in the spotlight representing Knox Central High School at the Kentucky Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference held April 20-22 after previously winning at the regional level competition held in March. Of the nine state winners, seven have earned the opportunity to advance to the national level.
State winners from Knox Central include (with the first four events advancing to national):
Desktop Publishing—1st place, Brandi Mills & Ashley Kozlow
Word Processing—1st place, Christopher Gibson
Spreadsheet Applications—4th place, Amanda Wahlstedt
Business Plan Project—5th place, Ryan Yother, Corey Carnes, & Hannah Mills
Client Services—5th place, Sarah Miles
Computer Applications—5th, Kelsey Engle
The students are now preparing for the National Leadership Conference that will be held June 29-July 2 in Chicago, Illinois.
Future Business Leaders of America, a career and technical student organization, allows students in the pathways of business and marketing to demonstrate their knowledge of business principles and procedures through competitive events and networking opportunities. The students competed against business students from across eastern Kentucky for the chance to advance to nationals during the State Conference held at the Galt House Hotel, Louisville, KY.
