The Knox County Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting on February 25, 2014 at Knox Central High School.
Kindergarten students from Girdler Elementary led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.
During the communications agenda portion of the meeting several students were recognized for their recent academic achievements. Girdler Elementary’s Brady Mills was recognized as a recipient of the Air Evac “High Flyer” award for making gains in reading. Freshmen students selected for the Union Collegiate Institute Early Start Program were recognized by the Board and Union College President Dr. Marcia Hawkins. Abram Mills and Laura Beth Mills were recognized for placing first and second in the Knox County Spelling Bee. Abram will now represent Knox at the Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee. Members of Lynn Camp’s KYA delegation were recognized for their delegation’s achievements at the assembly. The students earned the title of Best New Delegation and Delegation of Excellence. Member Shelby Green was individually recognized as an outstanding delegate.
