The Knox County Board of Education has announced a special called meeting set for Monday evening, February 8, 2021, 6:30 pm, at the Board of Education Annex (199 Daniel Boone Drive) in Barbourville.
The meeting is to discuss and/or take action on amending the current school year (2020-2021) academic calendar to change February 15, originally scheduled as a teacher equivalent (TE) staff workday, to a regular instructional day for students and staff. The TE day will be moved to another date.
Following the adjournment of that meeting, the Board will vote to go into a special-called work session at 6:40 pm.
On the agenda is for the Board to conduct a closed session for the purpose of conducting discussions which might lead to the appointment of an individual employee as allowed by KRS 61.810(1)(f).
This is the next step in the superintendent search process, as the Board prepares to post the vacancy and begin accepting applications from candidates.
Both the special called meeting and the work session will be limited to a maximum of ten (10) people, including school board members and staff, pursuant to the Coronavirus Guidelines of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control; the 03/12/2020 Meeting Protocols for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) issued by the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, KRS 61.810(1)(k), KRS 61.826, OAG 20-05 and SB 150. Both will be broadcast live and archived on the school district’s website, www.knoxkyschools.com.
