KCHS principal search survey

The search is underway for a new leader at Knox Central High School.

The school advisory council, under direction from the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), is currently accepting applications for the vacant position.  Tim Melton, former school principal, resigned on June 1 following acceptance of the head principal job for Williamsburg Independent Schools.

All stakeholders (students, parents/guardians, and community members) are invited to provide feedback on the desired characteristics of the next school leader.  A survey has been created by the advisory council to collect the feedback.  Results will be analyzed and will help guide the council and KDE in screening applications and conducting interviews with candidates.

To complete the survey visit the following website:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KCHSprincipalstakeholdersurvey

The survey will remain open until the end of the application window, which closes on July 1.

Interested applicants in the position are encouraged to visit the school district’s recruit and hire website, https://knoxcounty.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx.

For principal selection, the council will serve in an advisory role and the chairperson will be a designee from KDE.  The KDE designee will both chair and make the final selection of the principal.  The school-based decision making council was abolished when the school entered priority status.  The school exited priority status last fall, however, the school must make two consecutive years of progress in order for the council to regain decision making authority.
