Quite the characters, Lynn Camp invited to Beta National Convention

The lack of in-person opportunity to practice and perform did not stop Lynn Camp’s Beta Club from winning honors at the state convention.

Held virtually in January, the event allowed Beta members to be creative in the way that they organized and presented themselves.  That was no challenge for Lynn Camp, as the Character Skit team placed fourth in the competition.  This is the seventh year in a row that Lynn Camp has placed in the skit.

“Since students were not allowed to compete conventionally, they performed the skit individually using technology such as Zoom, SnapChat, TikTok, and Facetime,” explained Brooke Williamson, sponsor of the club.

This year’s theme was “It All Began With Beta.” The team had to create and act out a skit incorporating this theme along with the four components of Beta: Character, Service, Achievement, and Leadership.

This year’s team includes Arabella Pennington, Ariana Pennington, Joseph Cromwell, Breanna Jones, Olivia Dozier, Abby Miller, Julia Shepherd, and Hayleigh Duff.

The Lynn Camp Beta Club has received an invite to compete at the National Convention at Disney World in June.

“We are super proud of our Betas,” said Williamson.
