Knox Schools and Partners for Education proclaim Family Engagement Week

Superintendent Jeremy Ledford is shown signing a Family Engagement Week proclamation

Knox County Public Schools, the district’s Gear UP program, and Berea College Partners for Education have proclaimed the week of November 15-19 as Family Engagement Week in Knox County.

A proclamation signing was held on Friday morning, November 12, at the Knox County Board of Education.  Superintendent Jeremy Ledford was joined by members of the partnering groups for the signing.

Superintendent Ledford and other support staff are shown at a table signing the family engagement week proclamation.

“We want families to know the important role that they have in their child’s education,” explained Ledford.  “Education and learning are not limited to the school walls, but should occur naturally at home or anywhere an opportunity presents itself.”

Ledford encouraged families to be engaged in academic and non-academic areas of their child’s life and the life of other children.  He shared examples of being present at sporting events and academic competitions, cheering on their own child and the entire team.

“When schools and families work together to support students, the entire community is strengthened,” said Ledford as part of the proclamation.  “I count on our entire community to help Knox County Public Schools achieve top 10% status in the state. It will take all of us, doing our part.”
