Board to conduct work session Thursday; focus is on the future

Knox County Board of Education

The Knox County Board of Education will conduct their first work session with new superintendent Jeremy Ledford on July 22, 2021, 6:30 pm, at the Board of Education Annex Building (199 Daniel Boone Drive, Barbourville).

As the new superintendent takes office, the board will begin the process of adopting a strategic plan to guide the next four years and the adoption of a new mission statement. The work session scheduled for Thursday will be the start of that process. Both the board and superintendent will discuss ideas, shared goals, and strategies towards achievement.

In the next several weeks students, staff, and the community will have an opportunity to provide their input on the mission and direction of the school district.

Reference: No official board action is taken at a work session. Work sessions are intended to provide opportunities for board members to study issues, gather and analyze information, and clarify goals and objectives. Work sessions allow board members to engage in dialogue and discuss specific topics in greater depth prior to the item being placed on a meeting agenda for discussion and/or action.
