As Kentucky observes School Board Recognition Month in January, the Knox County Public Schools are joining in the celebration.
During their monthly meeting held Thursday, January 27, the spotlight was on their service and commitment to the students and staff of Knox County.
“Normally, we would have the Board here recognizing students but tonight we are turning the tables around,” said Frank Shelton, spokesman for the district.
Students from G.R. Hampton Elementary presented each member with a basket of goodies to show their appreciation. Items in the basket matched a story that was read thanking them for their work. Student representatives included Rylie Kate Smith, Max McKeehan, Maggie Collett, Jax Hubbard, and Killon Hill.
Shelton called upon Superintendent Jeremy Ledford after the student presentation to continue the accolades. Shelton and Ledford tag teamed the awards presentation by stating how others throughout the state always commend the two for the Board members that Knox County has.
Board member Jim Miles was unable to attend the meeting.
