2018 Governor’s Scholars Program

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Governor’s Scholars Program.

The Governor’s Scholars Program is a summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors. The Program originated in 1983 as a result of Kentucky leaders’ concern that the state’s “best and brightest” were leaving the Commonwealth to pursue educational and career opportunities elsewhere without fully understanding the potential of their talents at home. Students who are selected attend the Program without charge.

Knox County juniors who are interested in applying for participation in the summer 2018 program should download the application (below) and begin completing all the required sections.   Guidance counselors, teachers, and support staff at Knox Central and Lynn Camp are available to assist in the application process.

Dates to know for applying for the 2018 program:

October 31, 2017
Courtesy Date for Intent to Apply

If you intend to apply for the 2018 Governor’s Scholars Program, we ask that you please provide us with a courtesy “Intent to Apply” using the online form.  This will help us know how many applications to expect for scoring purposes.  Just because you submit an “Intent to Apply” does not obligate you to applying.  If you miss the “Intent to Apply” deadline, no worries—you can still apply for GSP.

The “Intent to Apply” is also helpful for you—as we will be emailing you helpful tips and reminders during the application process.  It also allows us to communicate to your teachers that you may be asking for their assistance with the application process.
